Extra UK adds Rockstop, a UK frame and rim protection label

Extra UK has used the COREBike show to debut a partnership with UK specialist manufacturer of foam products Rockstop a label that, utilising its Lake District surroundings as a testbed, has created a catalogue of adaptable frame protection goods, plus tyre inserts for tubeless.

Part of a larger parent company that has manufactured specialist foam products in the medical, automotive and many other industries since 1988, Rockstop was initially asked to produce motorcycle protection, but declined until later pressed on gravel and mountain biking use for its know-how.

Primarily the brand is now producing a line of aftermarket protection goods, though an OEM collaboration with Stanton is in its early days to see if the firm can expand its volume production alongside a number of bike manufacturers seeking a more sturdy standard on protection. Rockstop has an advantage too in that it produces its own molds and tooling in the UK too, giving it adaptability and control over every step of the manufacturing process.

Now landing with Extra are a trio of frame guards for skinny/aluminium frames, carbon and (wider) electric bike applications, each priced at £45. These frame protection lines carry malleable metal inners that shape to a frame’s curvature prior to fixing with 3M adhesive tape that comes affixed to an in house produced clasp, built to enable the transfer between bikes, if desired. The material is washable and as such has drainage holes that enable the flow of moisture away from the gap between the frame and guard.

The rim protection lines come suited for 27.5, 29″ and 27.5+ and a gravel prototype may soon come to fruition once the brand has established demand. These inserts are built with the flow of sealant in mind and the skeleton structure has large holes to enable this.

Extra Uk is currently showing the products at the COREbike show, for which you can still register here.

In case you missed it, Extra UK now has a new majority shareholder in place to drive the distributor forwards and expand its resources.
