London Marathon Events Ltd is one of the world’s leading mass participation sports event organisers.

We organise some of the biggest and best mass participation sports events in the UK including Prudential RideLondon, the world’s greatest festival of cycling, which features 100,000 riders in seven different events. We are a not-for-profit organisation and any surplus we make is given to The London Marathon Charitable Trust to inspire people to become and remain active primarily in London, Surrey and also across the UK.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Cycling Marketing Manager to engage, grow and inspire our database of cyclists and would-be cyclists to enter the different events in RideLondon and get/stay fit. This is an important role which will lead on this area of marketing.

This is a twelve-month fixed-term contract and we have ambitious goals to inspire new entrants to the world’s greatest festival of cycling in the three sportives (100 miles, 46 miles and 19 miles) and FreeCycle. Working closely with the Head of Creative and our data team, your job will be to inspire participation from our large database, through our social media channels and through customer acquisition.

Additionally, working with our Head of Charities, you will work on recruiting, engaging and developing prospective participants for our charity partners

Responsibilities

The right candidate will have a consistent track record of success working across digital and print channels, ideally in the cycling market.

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Director, you will be responsible for:

· Devising and implementing event marketing strategy and running all marketing activity for RideLondon

· Developing and co-ordinating targeted marketing campaigns to fill the events more quickly with target audiences of inspired cyclists and would be cyclists.

· Writing briefs and working closely with our Head of Creative in developing event marketing campaigns and communications.

· Handling event marketing budgets.

· Planning and implementing digital campaigns to drive online traffic to the company website and convert to entries.

· Planning, directing, executing and monitoring digital marketing and social media campaigns across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social networks in order to inspire participation in our events as well as utilising paid search, SEO and PPC to drive entries.

· Tracking conversion rates and making improvements to digital marketing.

· Monitoring and reporting on return on investment and effectiveness of marketing communications.

· Maintain effective internal communications to ensure that all relevant company functions are kept informed of marketing objectives.

· Utilising customer research and data insights, market conditions and competitor data to optimise marketing strategy and campaigns.

· Analysing and maintaining strategic partner relationships for Prudential RideLondon marketing.

Your Skills and Experience

Ideally, you will have a passion and understanding of the cycling mass participation market – from lapsed and novice riders to experienced club riders. You can write briefs and work with creative teams to produce campaigns and adverts across all channels that inspire people to enter RideLondon.

You are analytical yet also able to act on your intuition. You have a minimum of two years’ experience leading either a significant marketing project or a creative team and a track record that includes numerous examples of successful marketing campaigns you have crafted and executed across SEM, paid-for social media and influencer marketing to recruit participants/consumers, ideally in a sporting context. You will be a team player with a collaborative mindset, with excellent attention to detail and a willingness to get involved at every level of the marketing process.

You will be expected to work some evenings and weekends when necessary at our events.
