Cycle Retail & Trail Centre Store Manager

We are looking for an efficient and motivated individual with a passion for cycling to manager one of our very successful shops, workshop and rental operation, ideally taking it to the next level. The role plays a key part in the Cyclewise business, which delivers a divers range of cycle related services.

About Us:
Cyclewise is an independent rider-owner business with two busy cycle stores in Cumbria.
Cyclewise Whinlatter is our Trail Centre & Bike Hire Store specialising in mountain bikes.
Cyclewise Cockermouth is our premier road bike and family bike store. In addition to cycle retail and MTB hire, we provide expert workshop services, a range of MTB skills coaching, British Cycling MTB leadership courses, Bikeability training in schools, technical expertise and consultancy, and an e-commerce operation. The industry is exciting and challenging with customers increasingly accessing our products and services across all channels.

About the role:
• Accountable for the daily retail and rental services through management of the staff with the retail, workshop and bike hire team.
• Oversee the scheduling of workshop jobs (repair, maintenance, walk-in and bike build) and diagnose repair & maintenance work needed on customer & hire bikes.
• Provide quality assurance in bike retail, workshop repairs and bike hire.
• Submission of weekly sales reports detailing weekly and year to date rentals, sales and labour, and any activity or promotions as agreed with Company Directors.
• Identify opportunities for sales growth in the shop, hire and mechanic services.
• Able to ensure all customers receive an excellent experience across the services offered, ensuring the team are trained and delivering the highest possible standards.
• Responsible for the recruitment and/or training of new staff.
• Coordinating staff schedules
• Managing inventory processes, including ordering, receiving and pricing.
• Create buy plans for the business and responsible for stock management.
• Responsible for maintaining accurate data on our retail management system.
• Organise and merchandise products cleanly and creatively.
• Coordinate events such as MTB demo days, mechanic classes.
• Oversee shop communications on social media and the posting of bikes & parts on our website.

About You:
We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, high level of energy, confidence and resourcefulness. You will need to be passionate and knowledgeable about the cycle industry. You will be expected to lead the store from the shop floor and remain hands on at all times. Previous experience in managing a cycle retail shop and product buying is essential. You will be required to have proficient bike mechanic skills and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

About Salary & Hours of Work:
We offer a competitive salary, cycle-related product discounts, a company pension scheme, 28 days holiday per year (including bank holidays) and annual shared success bonus.

The position is based at Cyclewise Whinlatter located at Whinlatter Forest, one of the UK’s leading trail centres. The role will be full time, 40 hours per week, spread across five days, including weekend work.
