Mechanic/Sales Assistant role in both our Bristol showroom.
We’re a fast-growing electric bike specialist looking for skilled Mechanics who can step up and sell bikes when we’re busy in two of our most important showrooms.
We’ve been a leading player in the fastest-growing segment of the bicycle market since 2003. We’ve seen demand for electric bikes is increasing every season and we now have showrooms in five locations and have a sales and mechanic vacancy in our established Bristol Showroom and Test Ride Centre. Here you’ll find premium e-bike brands like Kalkhoff, Winora, Cube, Scott, Haibike & Giant.
Our electric bikes are premium products that attract a very wide range of customers – young and old, experienced cyclists as well as those looking to ride a bike for the first time in years.
You’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the workshop and must be able to complete relevant service work as required. This will include working closely with our team to ensure the customer is kept up to date and jobs are completed on time. Our bikes use Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano, Brose and Impulse motor systems, so familiarity with some or all of these system would be an advantage. Pre-delivery inspections, brake and gear servicing as well as repairs and maintenance will form the core of your duties in this role and full training will be given.
You will also be ready to work in our showroom and deploy your charm and knowledge to help customers select between the most exciting e-bikes available anywhere. But ours is not a hard-sell business. Your job will be to discover what each customer hopes our bikes will do for them and build a totally convincing case for owning one. You’ll soon become an expert at matching customers to the right bike in the right size along with any accessories they might need.
We’re growing fast and taking more people on to meet demand and provide the best service. We have many repeat customers and word-of-mouth recommendations - this is down to the efforts of our staff as much as the quality of products. This season is sure to be our busiest yet, so we’re keen to find the right person for the role soon.
Your skills and experience
You’ll have a winning personality and be someone who can instill trust and confidence and you’ll quickly become an impressive representative of our company and our brands.
You should enjoy cycling and you will, ideally, have skills and knowledge that allow you to respond to technical inquiries with confidence. A working knowledge of electric bicycles and technology is not necessary but if you have it you'll be a prime candidate for this role.
A good level of literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE or equivalent grades A-C in English, Maths, etc), a methodical approach, IT skills that cover working with online and cloud applications, as well as a presentable appearance and responsible attitude are all definite requirements.
You’ll already have experience of carrying out bicycle builds and pre-delivery inspections, as well as the ability to deliver all aspects of bicycle servicing and maintenance. Cytech qualification or equivalent would be necessary. If you have obtained experience in another way, please let us know.
In return, we’ll train you to work with all our systems, perfect your product knowledge and develop sales skills that see you first hitting and then exceeding your targets. The electric bike market is driving growth in the cycling industry and 50cycles is the best place to earn your stripes.
There will be a competitive basic salary as well as commission plus also great staff discounts available.
Our hours are 9:30am – 5:30pm Monday to Saturday and you would be asked to work 5 out of 6 days on a flexible basis, including Saturday.
