Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and high performing Sales Manager that has excellent sales, business development, marketing and account management skills. The post holder will lead the sales function for Silverfish to meet customer acquisition targets and achieve sales targets agreed with the Directors.
Working as the Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in growing the company's customer base and market share, both domestically and within Europe. You will manage a team of Area Sales Representatives, a National Accounts Manager and a Sales Support Manager.

Reporting to: General Manager but closely working with the Managing Director

Duties and Responsibilities

The specific duties of this post will include, though not be limited to:
• Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team.
• Develop and implement an annual sales strategy.
• In collaboration with the Managing Director, set the annual sales targets by month for territories and brands.
• Implementation of procedures, processes, reporting structure and schedules, and collating of sales reports for monthly management meeting.
• Responsible for the day-to-day and long-term management and development of the current Sales teams.
• Create a sales plan for the financial year to set out the actions to enable the achievement of the annual sales targets.
• Work closely with the Sales Support Manager to set KPI's for the Internal Sales team.
• In collaboration with the Managing Director create the product price list for the season.
• Work closely with the Marketing Manager to ensure sales and marketing activities are co-ordinated to maximise sales.
• Oversee the organisation of sales meetings and lead the content.
• Contribute to the organisation of sales events and trade shows in the UK and overseas.
• Line manage and lead the UK & European sales teams and the Sales Support Manager to maximise their motivation and performance.
• Support the UK & Europe sales team with customer visits and the development of sales initiatives.
• Identify gaps in the existing product ranges or potential growth markets and make recommendations to the Managing Director.
• Work closely with the Managing Director and the Sales Support Manager on the management of the House Accounts in order to maximise sales.
• Work closely with the Sales Support Manager to devise and implement sales promotions and ensure that they are clearly communicated internally and externally to customers through the marketing team.
• Identify needs and oversee the organisation of training and development for the sales and marketing department staff teams.
• Attend and have input into the monthly management meetings.
Person specification

Essential:

• Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
• Top level people management skills - the ability to get the best out of the team.
• Excellent all round communication skills - written & verbal.
• Highly motivated with a proven track record in sales and sales management.
• Business acumen - the ability to identify ways to improve profits generated by sales.
• High grade analytical and report writing skills.
• Enthusiastic and positive personality that people trust.
• Strong leadership skills - willing to be demanding and make difficult decisions in order to achieve results or business improvement.
• The ability to create strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Up to date knowledge and experience of sales and marketing techniques.
• Organised and efficient approach to carrying out duties.
• An in depth knowledge of cycling products and the industry.

Desirable:

• An in-depth knowledge of mountain biking and road racing.
• Active mountain biking enthusiast or road cyclist.
• Experience of developing or managing international sales.

Salary and Benefits
