Updated: Mosquito Bikes of London enters liquidation, “optimistic” buyer will be found

Mosquito Bikes of Islington, London has sadly entered liquidation.

Established on Bradbury Street in 1984, the store was among the first to stock the likes of Trek and Marin when they landed on UK shores.

In 1998 the store moved to Essex Road in Islington, where owners Gill, Roger and Phil ran an active store, as well as an active bike fitting business, something for which the store became renowned.

A spokesperson for Marriot&Co told CyclingIndustry.News: “We’re assisting the directors on the the sale of the assets. Offers are invited by 29th of April and we hope to try to find a buyer to take the business forwards. The company itself will be liquidated, though it is hoped the store’s brand may continue as the company has such historic depth.”

Directors Gill and Roger have now closed store. They confirmed to CyclingIndustry.News: “It’s been a very difficult for us, we have the business up for sale and really hope someone will come forward and continue the good name of Mosquito.

“We are pleased that potential buyers are coming forward and optimistic a new owner can be found.

“We have always regarded ourselves as having the nicest customers who make this such a pleasure and would like to thank them for their time and custom over the years.

“Our staff, past and present, are some of the most knowledgeable in the business and historically have remained part of the team for many years. As a collective we’ve been able to give expert advice and service from nuts and bolts to Di2 or showcasing some of the finest the cycling world has to offer.”

The business is now up for auction, which will run at 5pm on April 29th. Interest can be directed to sales@marriottco.co.uk.
