J.Laverack reveals additive manufactured & enhanced tech AM64

J.Laverack has bolstered its range of award-winning frame geometries with AM64 technology, a high-performance titanium frame design pairing additive manufacturing (aka 3D printing) and double butted titanium tubes for a smooth clean aesthetic, with fully integrated cable routing.

The head tube, bottom bracket, seat-lug and dropouts are additively manufactured and designed parametrically.

All models in the J.Laverack range are available with AM64 (‘Additive Manufacturing’ and the grade of titanium alloy used; Ti-6Al-4V). This exceptionally special material features a high strength to weight ratio that makes it one of the world’s super metals, said the brand.

The engineering advancement is available on bikes with fully bespoke geometry as well as standard size frames between 44cm and 64cm, and maintains smooth intersections between 3D printed components and tubes.

“When we created the J.Laverack Aston Martin .1R we pushed bicycle design and technology to the limit of what is possible,” said Oliver Laverack, Co-founder. “Over the four years it took us to develop the .1R we learned a great deal, and this is our first opportunity to apply some of that technology to our-award winning range of J.Laverack frames.”

Co-founder David Clow said: “Each AM64 frame is based on our tried and tested, award winning geometries as a start point ensuring riders benefit from our extensive in-house knowledge and experience, which can then be tailored to their exact requirements.”

The new flowing and contoured headtube features an engraved gryphon. There are no visible welds where the tubes join; instead, the headtube flows freely into the downtube and top tube. An innovative lightweight integrated seat clamp offers a clean clamping solution and an almost uninterrupted line through to the top of the seat post.

J.Laverack’s elegant Streamline BSA threaded bottom bracket design has evolved to take advantage of additive manufacturing. This allows for the chainstay bridge to become part of the bottom bracket. Every AM64 frame includes the UK made ÆRA No.1 bottom bracket, which was designed specifically to complement the Streamline BSA design.

The first 50 commemorative frames of each model – J.ACK, GRiT, R J.ACK, CONTOUR and PiLOT will be numbered. The hand-brushed, bead-blasted or painted commemorative graphic is located on the lower part of the down tube so the rider can see it while pedalling.
