Pure Electric to fundraise, enters Currys, launches folding eScooter

Retailer and manufacturer of eMobility goods Pure Electric has announced that it will soon fundraise to drive the next stage of business growth, along with a few further announcements that indicate the future direction of a business that veered into and largely back out of the eBike space.

Founder of the business Adam Norris recently posted to his LinkedIn the news of an incoming raise, to take place on Crowdcube and launching later this month (though interest can now be pre-registered).

Norris wrote: “Over the last 4 year I have had a lot of people ask me if they can invest in Pure Electric. The answer has always been no until now.

“Alongside the upcoming announcement of our ground-breaking new e-scooter, we are allowing you, our community, to invest.”

That new three spec electric scooter range has now broken cover and appears unique in the market in that it folds in five steps, reducing down the size drastically and making it more akin to a folding bike product. As a result of the claimed 70% size reduction the format is public transport friendly (on services that permit eScooters on board, though many, including the London Underground, do not).

Instead of a narrow deck where the rider stands slightly twisted, with one foot in front of the other, Pure Advance and Pure Advance Flex feature a central chassis with a footpad on either side. This intuitive approach allows the rider to stand with their feet shoulder-width apart, their weight balanced, facing fully forwards.

On the launch Norris said: “Transport systems across the world are broken. Millions of people waste countless hours trapped in congestion while indirectly damaging our environment, through lack of choice. We are driven by a fierce ambition to reinvent personal travel and today, we’re immensely proud to launch Pure Advance and Pure Advance Flex, specifically created for people striving to get the best out of city living.”

Finally and similarly revealed on the firm’s social channels, national electronics retailer Currys will now stock Pure Electric products, taking the eMobility option to the masses.

As revealed in July, Pure Electric has now closed its own retail operations, within which it formerly carried a big electric bike investment. The firm has now opted instead to focus the entirety of its energy on electric scooters.
