Leopard smart bicycle protection launch Lync crowdfunding campaign
Over the last 2 years Leopard have been working with cyclists and some of the leading bicycle manufacturers in Europe to develop a smart, anti-theft alarm: A connected bicycle alarm with movement sensors, instant alerts, theft mapping and real time GPS tracking.
The Leopard Lync team have now launched its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.
The Lync – fitted with a loud 109 dB alarm that triggers if the integrated motion sensors (6 axis gyro and accelerometer) detects authorised movement – is designed to deter bicycle thieves in the first place. In addition the Lync will also send an instant alert to your phone via the Lync app so you can check on your bike.
James Robertson, Head of Marketing said, “There are plenty of bike trackers on the market but we wanted to create something different, something that would help to prevent your bike being stolen and give cyclists an extra layer of security”
The Lync comes fitted with an 4G / 2G eSim to guarantee connection no matter where you are in the UK and Europe and also has Bluetooth auto lock meaning you can simply walk away from your bike and the Lync will automatically activate.
With the Lync app, cyclists can check their location for recent bike thefts and theft hot spots as well as set up a geofence around your bike…which can be very useful for retailers, anyone sharing their bike or parents. With real time GPS, cyclists can also see exactly where their bike is, anytime.
The Lync has been designed to fit all types of bikes, and simply attaches under your existing bottle cage and is weatherproof up to IP67. With normal use the battery will last up to 4 weeks on a single charge and longer when in standby mode.
James also notes, “We have learnt a lot over the last 2 years and the support from the bicycle manufacturers has been amazing….so we are vey excited to get this launched and in the hands of cyclists everywhere.”
The Leopard Lync is available to order now on IndieGoGo now and comes with the first year of data included for £89 – limited to the first 100 orders.
Leopard has also partnered with bicycle insurer Bikmo, to offer bicycle and accessory manufactures a range of bespoke insurance solutions to meet customer needs.
James Robertson, Leopard Tech’s Marketing Director said: “As the Leopard Lync is a white label solution for bicycle and accessory manufacturers, we wanted to partner with an insurance provider that could offer a fantastic insurance platform but also the flexibility to tailor this to our customer requirements. Bikmo, are the perfect partner for this and we are excited to work together to develop future insurance offers taking advantage of increased bicycle connectivity”
