Mechanic workshop management platform Workshop launched by Bikebook

Bikebook has launched cycle mechanic workshop management platform Workshop, tailored exclusively for bike mechanics.

Catering for those who lack the resources and time for complicated software and extensive training, Workshop is a considerable leap forward for those professional mechanics who rely on increasingly old school administrative tools like Excel spreadsheets, paper diaries or use online platforms like Facebook to create a basic web page.

The workshop is widely considered to be the lynchpin of bike retail businesses, not least when bikes sales are lean, and Bikebook’s Workshop aims to immediately professionalise a bike repair business by offering an end-to-end solution for business management. Workshop eliminates paper booking systems and other archaic processes for invoicing and payment processing, whilst keeping tabs on inventory and stock taking. It also includes automated CRM and detailed service reporting to customers, to keep them informed and up to date them with the progress of their bike’s service, adhering to raised service expectations from modern day customers. The system is adaptable to suit any business setup by simply logging in online, says the firm, therefore, it can be easily used in workshops, bike shops, by mobile mechanics and by those offering collection and drop-off services.

Bikebook put together a launch event for the new platform at the Rapha Store in London with Ned Boulting and David Millar last month (pictured).

Bikebook has also been working with Lee Niven, Owner of Otec Bikes and Director of Spokes People Cytech, to support product development. He said: “I’ve been in the industry for over 35 years and have used every solution on the market to date. I’ve seen the struggle for the perfect tech solution for bike mechanics. Workshop not only fills this void but exceeds expectations.”

Over the last year, more than 5,200 services have been completed using Workshop, with those mechanics involved commenting upon a notable increase in customer retention. For a major service, the system said it can save a mechanic an average of 10 to 15 minutes and thereby allowing them to focus on what they do best: delivering exceptional service to their customers.

“We are thrilled to introduce Workshop, it’s a project we’ve been working on for some time now,” said says Jake Fieldsend, Co-founder of Bikebook. “It’s been amazing to work with so many different businesses from across the country to get to where we are now. We can’t wait to show this to the market and start supporting even more businesses.

“With our excellent backing and our commitment to innovation, we hope Workshop will modernise how bike workshops operate, reducing boring admin and providing a comprehensive solution to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction.”
