Bikebook registers 650 mechanics: UK’s largest workshop database

Bikebook has become the largest database of bicycle mechanics in the UK, with the business announcing it has passed the ‘650 mechanics registered’ mark.

Launched in April 2021, Bikebook set out on a mission to revolutionise the bicycle maintenance industry. The aim being to provide comprehensive on-line support to independent bicycle mechanics and their businesses.

Bikebook allows a cyclist to enter their location and will then display all the mechanics in that area. A cyclist can view specific service details, business information, prices and can also message mechanics directly through the platform. Bikebook also allows for easy-to-read reviews, based on the quality of the mechanic’s work. In turn, the mechanic saves time and money in SEO and marketing costs.

Further to the Bikebook platform, the business has also developed the Bikebook Portal – an all in-one workshop management tool – which enables a mechanic to receive bookings, communicate with customers, and manage the associated data, such as service history and revenue/profit figures.

Bikebook was founded by 2 brothers and a best friend, following a cycling trip to the Yorkshire moors. They realised that an internet search can often overlook smaller, independent businesses and so wanted to create a central platform that allowed mechanics to promote their skills and services, beyond their individual websites.

Jake Fieldsend, comments “We aim to support local independent businesses whilst allowing cyclists transparency when choosing a service.”

When speaking about their motivations for the project Ryan Elson says that “From a young age, we have all loved cycling. Jake was an avid racer, and all of us are now regular, recreational cyclists. Creating a stronghold for the bicycle maintenance industry is exciting and rewarding for us all. Bikebook is more than just a business, it’s the conduit that supports our passion.”
