Saddleback celebrates 20th Anniversary
On 21 May 2004, whilst Petacchi was winning Stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia in Treviso, Andy Wigmore, founder and Managing Director of Saddleback Ltd, was registering his fledgling company at Companies House in Cardiff.
Through a global financial crisis, Brexit, the subsequent currency crash, a global pandemic and recently during a cost-of-living crisis that has affected the industry like no other event in living history, Saddleback has weathered those storms, held true to its founding principles and maintained its position as the home of performance cycling in the UK.
The love for the sport and the commitment of the company and the persons manning the phones, packing the orders and showcasing the brands and products to the world of cycling, proves that Saddleback will continue to passionately represent their brands and the sport, whatever obstacles we all face.
On this momentous occasion, Andy Wigmore had this to say: “To think that Saddleback is now 20 years old is incredible. It really doesn’t seem that long ago that Sarah and I were packing orders from the living room of our semi-detached house and excited about every sale we made. Granted the volumes have grown over the years but the enjoyment gained from supplying the world’s leading products to the trade has never faded. We remain deeply grateful to our staff, suppliers and of course retail partners and look forward to continuing this for many years to come.”
Brand Director, Richard Mardle adds: “20 Years is good chunk of time and it’s hard to think we’ve managed to get away with calling this a job, providing a home for some of the best brands in the industry! Ok, it’s not all been easy, but it does help when bikes are your passion and this single passion has brought together an amazing group of people who have helped build upon our beliefs. Shiny bike stuff is just cool! Thank you to everyone who has played a part along the way.”
