Alice Clews-Smith joins Lyon as Ortlieb Brand Development Manager

Lyon Equipment has recruited Alice Clews-Smith to fill the role of Ortlieb Brand Development Manager, supporting the continued growth of the industry-leading cycle brand ORTLIEB.

The Cumbria based business is the UK distributor for a range of cycling equipment, paired this with a longstanding expertise in the outdoor industry. This year sees the business celebrate their 50th anniversary, kicking off with their attendance at COREbike.

Alice brings a wealth of experience in the bike industry, having worked with leading brands, as well as being co-founder of Steezy collective, an inclusive cycling collective for all women, all non-binary and all trans riders. As part of her role within the collective, she has worked with Rapha to empower the underrepresented cycling community.

The distribution relationship between Lyon and Ortlieb is a long and successful one dating back over three decades, making Lyon Ortlieb’s longest-standing distribution partner. A market leader in waterproof bicycle bags, the brand has grown exponentially since its inception in 1982. From a sewing machine and a piece of truck tarpaulin to 400 products and 300 employees, Ortlieb remains true to its roots with everything from product development to manufacturing happening under one roof in Heilbronn, Germany.

The team at Lyon look forward to supporting the continued growth of Ortlieb, with Alice primed to identify and activate new opportunities that are arising for the brand.
