All-new for 2025: Halo Skelta wheelset

Here are some details on two fresh new lines from Halo for 2025, available to the trade via distributor Ison: The Halo Skelta wheelset and the MantraDrive750 system.

Designed for and tested at trail centres, bike parks, street riding and at Hardline by some big name riders, the all new Skelta wheelset is reportedly one of the most durable in mountain biking and is built using 6069 T6 heat-treated aluminium with an invisible seamless welded joint for added security. The Skelta rim features a shot-peened surface which provides increased corrosion and fatigue resistance, as well as a uniform matt finish.

After more than a year of heavy testing, Halo has developed the rim design to offer an even stronger wheel without excessive weight. Skelta’s enhanced 30 mm internal width, offers a confidence inspiring hooked rim profile for added control and tyre security and is compatible with all types of tyres, tubeless or not. The width for tyre sizes has been optimised from 2.25” – 2.8”, making them compatible with lightweight XC tyres for ripping local trails, through to heavy casing DH tyres for the gnarliest conditions.

At the centre of the rear Skelta wheel is Halo’s MT Supadrive hub, available in non-boost, boost and superboost for all frame widths. Both wheels are built with our triple butted J-bend spokes for easily sourced replacements.

Skelta Wheels or rims have been put through their paces, not only throughout the Scottish Highlands and the trails at Hardline in Wales but further afield performing on some of Utah’s finest dirt.

Halo has added further detail:

Rim:

“The Skelta rim has been developed by riders, we created the rim to offer as much durability and performance as possible, with a 30mm internal optimised for tyre support and confidence inspiring riding. Using a invisible welded joint and shot peened 6069 T6 heat-treated Aluminium, it is made to last without compromising on weight or style. We added stainless eyelets for extra strength.

Hubs:

“At the Core of the rear Skelta is our world-famous MT Supadrive hub, with 120 points of engagement and options for almost every modern fitment and freehub. They are some of the most reliable and versatile hubs on the market and feature the iconic signature Halo Supadrive high-engagement sound. The MT Supadrive rear hub also features a Cr-Mo axle for maximum hard-hitting durability without excessive weight. Our front MT2 hub has been designed with wide space flanges to offer increased stiffness and durability and features a lightweight alloy core axle. The entire MT range comes with sealed bearings.

Spokes:

“Strength and reliability are the fundamentals of the Skelta wheelset. We build all our high-end wheels with triple butted, black finish stainless steel spokes. Lightweight, perfectly tensioned by hand and made to last, the perfect combination for spokes.

“Each Skelta wheelset comes pre-taped and tubeless-ready, so you can hit the trails right out of the box. Aavailable in 24” – 26” – 27.5” – 29” as rims or wheelsets.”

Introducing the HALO MANTRADRIVE 750 system

Renowned for its deep roots in the dirt jump and slopestyle scene, Halo Wheels has worked alongside world champs to craft its wheels. Leveraging extensive feedback from riders and consumers, Halo has developed an innovative drive system designed for higher engagement, reliability, and performance across all types of riding.

Features:

  • 150 Points of Engagement: Utilising a leaf spring mechanism Mantra ‘750’  drive uses 5 pawls on a 150 point engagement drive-ring (5 x 150 = 750) the system delivers near-instant engagement with 2.4 degrees of rotation.
  • Durability Under High Torque: Built to withstand the stresses of high-torque applications using CNC machined Cr-mo axle and freehub.

Key Innovations :

  • Enhanced Load Distribution: By incorporating 7 engagement teeth per pawl instead of the conventional single tooth, the system spreads load more evenly, increasing longevity and reducing maintenance.
  • Cr-Mo Freehubs: All freehubs are made from chromoly (Cr-Mo) for superior durability, reduced cassette bite on HG-splined cassettes, and compatibility with single-speed setups. Internally weight-relieved, they achieve both strength and lightweight.
  • 6902 Bearings: The integrated Cro-Mo freehub and driver allow more useable space for the bearings. This enables substantial 6902 sealed bearings to be used in the freehub for improved durability and easier servicing worldwide

To debut the MantraDrive system in 2025, Halo Wheels is launching two new hubs tailored to the needs of modern riders:

  1. MT-SS (Mountain Single Speed):
  • Available in 135mm x M10 and 12 x 142mm configurations.
  • Ideal for dirt jumpers and older frame standards.
  1. MT-SS Boost:
  • Aimed at the emerging “Slopeduro” market and single-speed conversions.
  • Features a 72mm flange-to-centre width for unmatched wheel strength and perfectly balanced tension.
  • Compatible with Pinion gearboxes for ultimate versatility.

…in future

The MantraDrive system will expand into new hub formats, including 11 and 12 spd 148mm, 150/157mm, MTB hubs as well as SS BMX versions, set to launch in early 2026. Development is also underway to bring Mantra to road and gravel hubs.
