COREbike 2025: Wildoo, Eovolt, MiRiDER & Windwave

COREbike is just around the corner and this 20th edition is going to be the largest in its two decades with multiple first-time exhibitors and notable returnees. Here’s another blast of what to expect at the show for trade attendees…

Eovolt: Launching non-electric Afternoon Pro 20” folding bike

Eovolt returns to COREbike after an eventful few years. Eovolt did a fund raise of €16 million in July 2022 and that has changed much for the brand in many areas. For instance, staff at its Lyon HQ was increased significantly bringing in expertise across management, the production line and marketing team. But the biggest change the fund raise enabled was putting together its own engineering department of three young engineers who were given the green light to play around and innovate. Interestingly, when they advertised the engineering positions they specifically asked for applicants to have NO experience in the cycling industry so they didn’t come with any pre conceived ideas of how bikes have been designed before.

Those changes helped bring the brand in the direction the founders – Luca Chevalier and Baptiste Fullen – had originally envisioned which was moving away from generic far eastern OEM parts and to their own proprietary designs.

So, 2024 saw the first proprietary bike from the teams engineers roll off the production line with the Afternoon Pro 20” folding electric bike. It featured six design patents including auto locking hinges, its own seat post battery system with magnetic connector and integrated fold and go locking mechanism being the most stand out. The Afternoon Pro was received positively by retailers, customers and the eBike media alike, said Eovolt. Cycling Electric magazine awarding the Afternoon Pro its Editor’s Award for best in class.

Core Bike 2025 sees Eovolt launch the non electric version of that award winning bike, The Afternoon Pro Non Electric. It features all the same design patents minus the electric parts (obviously) but with auto locking hinges, integrated fold and go, belt drive with automatic gearbox and integrated phone mount it is described as the folding bike for the modern world.

Eovolt said: “We have had a lot of interest from retailers we have shown the spec to and COREbike is the trade’s first chance to see the finished bike in the flesh at the show. The Afternoon Pro Non Electric will be available in two colours, Anthracite Grey (Gloss) and Orange (Matt) , the bike will retail for £1,499.”

Windwave: 3 new Colnago models

COREbike stalwart Windwave will be showcasing brand new models from Colnago as part of its presence at Whittlebury Hall.

Y1Rs – new TT bike
Pitched as a significant advancement in cycling technology, Colnago Y1Rs aims to redefine how aerodynamics and performance are achieved.

At the heart of the Y1Rs is the innovative WYND Technology handlebars, featuring a unique Y-shaped, ‘gull wing’ profile that minimises turbulence and drag. This design ensures a seamless airflow across the cockpit, enhancing aerodynamic performance. The Y1Rs also features a DEFY seatpost joint, a clever dual-Y structure that aligns with the seat tube to reduce drag while providing vertical compliance for enhanced comfort.

V4 Road – more budget-friendly race bike

The new Colnago V4 is a rigid and reactive monocoque. It offers the same thrills as the race proven V4Rs, enjoying the same carbon layup R&D, and aerodynamic studies, but at a more accessible price.

The front area of the frame is like the V4Rs. The headtube is sleeker and the fork has been revised compared to V3Rs and V3 to allow better airflow especially during fast, technical descents. The V4 comes as standard with the Colnago SR10 stem and the Colnago R41 handlebar. The frame however, is also compatible with third-party solutions.

G4-X – new performance gravel bike

The G4-X is an evolution of the proven G3-X, blended with the V4Rs – Colnago’s fast road bike which has carried the UAE race teams to countless victories. Both the G4-X and V4Rs share the same design spirit and aesthetic. The V4Rs is designed to be everything a professional rider needs and the same is true of the G4-X, making it a formidable machine on dirt roads. It’s comprehensively designed to meet the needs of the modern gravel racer.

The G4-X accepts tyres up to 45mm, is SRAM UDH compatible and features the now common T47 threaded bottom bracket. The seat clamp area has been redesigned, to better cushion bumps from rough ground and withstand greater tightening torque, reducing the risk of slippage. Cable routing is fully internal, and customers have the option to spec the CC.01 fully integrated cockpit, as used on the V4Rs. Alternatively, the G4-X is available with a standard bar and stem combination.
