Optima Cycles acquires Dolly bikes to strengthen market position
E-bike and electric cargo bike manufacturer Optima Cycles has acquired Dolly Bikes, an electric cargo bike brand as part of a strategic acquisition. Dolly joins brands such as Dutch ID and Lovens to strengthen Optima Cycles cargo bike market position.
The acquisition has provided a new target audience for Optima Cycles, as well as new sales opportunities, the firm said. Dolly Bikes is known for its customer-focused style, responding to customer needs.
Michiel Dreef, CEO of Optima Cycles said: “We are very excited about the acquisition of Dolly. Their expertise and proven concept are an ideal complement to our portfolio. Together, we offer our customers an even wider range of innovative and sustainable mobility solutions while continuing to expand our leadership in the market.”
Dolly builds user-friendly, lightweight cargo bikes with a customer-centric approach. In a market where customer demands and technological developments are key drivers, acquiring Dolly Bikes allows Optima Bikes to strengthen its market position.
Daan Buddingh, Dolly Bikes, said: “Dolly Cargo Bikes have won the hearts of many families with their distinctive cargo bikes and excellent service. We look forward to taking Dolly even further under the wings of Optima Cycles.”
Since Bolster investment partners joined Optima Cycles in 2021 as shareholders, this has been the company’s first acquisition. Dolly Bikes sought advice from Mobis corporate finance for this transaction.
