Alberto Cavaggioni becomes new Bianchi CEO
Former senior exec at Alfa Romeo and Maserati, Alberto Cavaggioni has been appointed by Bianchi President and Owner Salvatore Grimaldi as the company’s new General Manager and CEO.
A Milan native, Cavaggioni brings over 25 years of international leadership experience, having held key positions across Europe, the US and China in the industrial, automotive and engineering consulting sectors. His career is closely tied to some prestigious and iconic Italian brands: He previously served as Marketing Director at Iveco, Head of Alfa Romeo EMEA, Head of Maserati for Europe and China, and most recently as CEO of RINA Consulting – an Italian engineering consultancy and part of the RINA Group, founded in 1861.
Cavaggioni steps into his new role at Bianchi during its milestone 140th anniversary year, celebrated at the recent Milan-Sanremo on March 22 with the launch of a limited edition of the “Oltre RC” and “Specialissima RC” models.
Under Cavaggioni’s leadership, Bianchi is poised to enter a new phase of strategic development following the completion of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Treviglio, inaugurated on 4 June 2024 and reportedly one of the most advanced plants of its kind. The company’s next chapter will focus on continued growth in Europe while placing particular emphasis on expansion across North America, Asia, and China. At the heart of this long-term vision are Bianchi’s customers and brand enthusiasts, and the global dealer network to deliver a “unique purchasing experience”.
“I’m proud and excited to take on this new challenge with Bianchi,” said Alberto Cavaggioni. “This brand is a symbol of Italian excellence, with a remarkable legacy. The cycling industry is undergoing a profound transformation, and thanks to the passion and expertise of our people and the strength of our iconic products, Bianchi is ready to evolve and claim its rightful place in the global market. As in sports, it takes a great team to reach ambitious goals.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Mr. Salvatore Grimaldi and the entire Board of Directors for their trust, and to Marco Gentili for his preparatory work in setting the stage for this new chapter—one that will honour the company’s heritage and core values while shaping its future.”
Bianchi’s President and owner, Salvatore Grimaldi, welcomed the new CEO while reaffirming the company’s ambitions under the Grimaldi Industri AB Group, which has owned Bianchi since 1997.
“Following a major transformation phase, marked by the creation of our new production facility—a cornerstone for Bianchi’s future—our 140th anniversary signals the beginning of a new chapter, one that must be driven by ambition and passion. Our goal remains clear: to grow while continuing to embody the essence of cycling around the world. We are confident that in Alberto we have found the right leader to guide Bianchi into a new era of success in our storied history.”
