Continental launches ContiGarant bicycle tyre guarantee in UK
Continental has launched ContiGarant, a voluntary tyre guarantee covering defined types of tyre damage in the urban segment.
Officially launched on 5 May, ContiGarant is a one-year guarantee (from the date of purchase), providing protection against damage for urban bicycle tyres with Safety Level 6 and above. The guarantee allows end consumers to claim reimbursement for the inner tube, as well as fitting costs, up to £15 per tyre.
If the tyre itself is also damaged, it will likewise be replaced. Processing is carried out exclusively between the consumer and Continental, and enrolment in ContiGarant is free of charge following the purchase of the tyre.
In the UK, Continental is supported by its distribution partner ZyroFisher to ensure the programme is effectively delivered to the specialist dealer network.
“We see this new initiative as active sales support for specialist retailers, who themselves have no additional workload,” said Paul Cooke, Key Account Manager for Bicycle Tyres at Continental.
The announcement builds on the successful rollout of the programme for bicycle tyres in Germany, as well as for the Continental AllSeasonContact passenger car tyre and Continental commercial vehicle tyres in multiple European markets.
The company added that ContiGarant goes beyond the statutory tyre manufacturer warranty and is now established in various countries. Following positive feedback on the voluntary guarantee extension and its strong reception among end consumers, Continental has decided to introduce this programme to the bicycle tyre sector, exclusively for brick-and-mortar retailers.
