Fusion Media appointed as public relations agency by Bikeability
Fusion Media has been appointed as the retained public relations agency for Bikeability Trust. Strategy advice, policy guidance, and Parliamentary engagement will be provided by the agency as part of the deal.
Emily Cherry, chief executive of the Bikeability Trust said: “Through our fundraising efforts, we’re excited to be investing in our policy and public affairs work through a partnership with Fusion Media. They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in both politics and the active travel space, and we’ve already delivered some fantastic work together.”
Cherry said: “We want as many people as possible to experience the multiple benefits of Bikeability training, and we’re working hard to showcase the wider societal impact that it can have on health, road safety and skills.”
The collaboration between the two companies began with the success of the cycle to school week initiative, where MPs attended school visits to see the training in action from Bikeability after Fusions lobbying.
Jack Mayorcas, public affairs lead at Fusion Media, said “We are absolutely delighted to be working with The Bikeability Trust. Bikeability is a cost-effective intervention with multiple societal benefits which teaches life-long cycle skills whilst delivering immediately measurable impacts.”
Fusion Media is currently undergoing a rapid expansion in its public affairs department, part of this growth includes this new partnership with Bikeability as well as the addition of Mathew Porter to the team. Porter will serve as public affairs account executive, birning with him parliamentary and cycling experience. His addition strengthens Fusion Medias ability to provide for its clients.
Mayorcas added: “Over the coming months we will support them to deliver policy changes that will enable even more people to develop their skills for cycling. This is an exciting time for Fusion Media as we deepen our expertise and broaden our reach in the public affairs landscape. With a new Government in place and growing momentum around active travel, we are well-positioned to help shape the future of transport policy, and make cycling, walking and wheeling more accessible for everyone.”
Bikeability Trust is responsible for Bikeability, its management, development and promotion. A collaboration between the trust and the Department for Transport (DfT) last year saw the trusts flagship program implemented across England, encouraging kids to cycle to school. Transport for London helped fund this initiative.
