Bike Matrix announces appointment of Tech Co-Founder

New Zealand start up Bike Matrix has taken the next step in it’s road to full product launch with the recruitment of Adam Barnes, joining the team as Tech Co-Founder.

The news means founder and cycling industry veteran Adam Townsend sees Bike Matrix make a significant step in its development, and coincides with the news that Bike Matrix has also made the next stage of the Cycling Innovation Accelerator program.

What is Bike Matrix?

Adam and a silent partner are building a global bike industry database which provides industry wide bike-specific parts compatibility information. Critically the development includes an API which enables integration into existing retailer and distributor software, delivering a backend that can be used by the entire industry.

What does that mean?

2 distinct use cases, both surrounding parts compatibility:

  • A bike shop based salesperson selects a bike through their POS system
  • A customer selects a bike, whilst shopping online

In both cases, Bike Matrix only shows the parts which are compatible with the chosen bike.

By removing the confusion Bike Matrix

  • Increasing in-store revenue. Sales staff no longer disrupt workshop workflow when asking mechanics technical and compatibility focused product questions.
  • Increases confidence and smooths out purchasing decisions, increasing conversion rates and reducing returns, for online retail

It’ll come as no surprise that, whilst naming no names, some of the biggest names in the global industry have already had that ‘ah ha’ moment when hearing about Bike Matrix.

What next?

“Adam definitely shares our vision and our passion for solving the bike parts compatibility problem and we’re pretty chuffed to have someone of his skills and experience on the team to design and build our industry-changing solution.” says Adam Townsend, Bike Matrix founder.
