Ison Distribution exclusively links up with Connex chains

Connex, Wippermann’s specialist bicycle chain brand, is now exclusively available throughout the UK via Ison Distribution.

Connex combines more than 130 years of bike expertise with the experience and engineering of an international chain manufacturer, to produce its high-performance chains from the highest-grade steels in state-of-the-art production facilities in Germany.

Ison MD Lloyd Townsend has played the long game on the deal, with his interest in Wippermann dating back to the family bike shop in the ’70s, where Lloyd’s father would only ever fit Wippermann chains when undertaking repairs. He explained to Lloyd that they were stronger and longer lasting than other chain brands, and therefore the best choice for his customers. Remembering that sage piece of advice, Lloyd has waited a long time to be able to add Connex to the Ison portfolio, but that wait is now finally over.

Connex’s range of Hot Wax treated chains are full immersion hot wax-treated chains straight from the factory, not simply a liquid wax that’s been applied retrospectively. Wax is ‘the new oil’, and a small revolution in chain care, said the brand, with oily and dirty chains a thing of the past with Connex’s high-performance waxed bike chains and their perfectly balanced maintenance system of environmentally friendly hot and liquid wax for long-lasting care: “This means you can look forward to more power, less maintenance, and a longer service life for your drivetrain.”

The Wippermann chain story starts in 1893 when Wilhelm Wippermann was convinced that there was a better way to do things after his son’s bicycle chain broke, yet again. His decision to develop a chain led to the foundation of one of the world’s most respected manufacturers of both standard and maintenance-free high-performance bicycle chains and one of the oldest brands in the cycling industry.

Ison will carry a comprehensive range of chains, lubricants, tools, eBike chainrings and sprockets, and of course the legendary Connex Link which is their quick release (QR) joining link. Precision engineered by Wippermann, the unique Connex Link locking system for a chain joining link has been proven time and again. Its tool-free operation allows quick and simple use by hand. The re-usable design allows cyclists to join and split chains multiple times making the Connex Link especially useful for regular chain cleaning and lubrication, as well as repairs when out riding. Connex Links are supplied as standard with all Connex performance derailleur chains and are available after-market too.

Ison will also be introducing a new service to help customers obtain the best solution for any XL chain requirements by providing customised length chains for dealers in the super strong Cargo and eBike-focused markets.
