Porsche e-bike team appoints two directors
Porsche eBike Performance has added to its leadership team with the additions of Denise Silva, who takes on the role of director product definition, and Thorsten Weppert, as director corporate quality. The pair have strong experience within cycling and automotive industries, with their roles key in the future direction of the company.
Silva has worked exclusively with performance cycling brands such as Specialized, BMC, and Accell Group, for her 18 year career in the sector. She most recently worked with Accell where she led the product development for Haibike, Lapierre, and Ghost. She is a keen cyclist herself, finding herself drawn to the e-MTB and gravel riding.
In her last role, Silva successfully aided the transformation of three independent teams, working across multiple locations, into a single, unified, cross-functional, matrix organisation.
Moving from Accell to Porsche e-Bike Performance will provide new challenges for Silva, who will now lead the product definition team and oversea the translation of portfolio strategies into system and component specification. The aim will be to maximise customer value through transferring requirements into the project organisation.
Dr. Jan Becker, Co-CEO of Porsche eBike Performance GmbH, said: “With his background in automotive quality, Thorsten Weppert strengthens our organisation at a vital stage in its development. With his support, we’ll continue to build on our product excellence.”
Thorsten Weppert brings over two decades of quality management experience with him to his new role, including time spent on the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) side at Porsche AG. In this role, he was responsible for qualiry planning of purchased parts, being a key aprt in exterior add-on parts quality.
Before joining Porsche e-Bikes Performance he most recently worked on establishing the Body Functions Quality department at Porsche AG, helping the move towards system engineering. Weppert will now lead the Corporate Quality department, utilising his experience to strengthen quality management and bringing automotive standards with his understanding from vehicle departments.
Florian von Wurmb-Seibel, CTO of Porsche eBike Performance GmbH, said: “I am very excited to welcome Denise Silva to the team, with her bicycle industry knowledge we form the perfect bridge between the strategic portfolio and the daily project business.”
