Ridgeback to unveil redesigned kids’ bike range at iceBike 2026
Ridgeback will launch a redesigned kids’ bike range at iceBike 2026, featuring new frames, colourways and accessories.
The new range has been developed with a strong focus on fit, ease of ride, accessories and after-sales care, all of which are incorporated across the Scoot, MX and Dimension models. Scoot covers balance bikes, MX sits at the core price point, and Dimension represents the more premium end of the range.
Fit is a key focus of the redesign. Ridgeback’s design and engineering team analysed Department of Health data on average height by age, sitting height ratios and inside leg lengths to optimise frame geometry. Inside leg length is a critical driver in the design process, with the aim of achieving optimal standover height and minimum saddle height for each target age group.
Ease of ride has also been prioritised. All models feature 19mm outer-diameter handlebars, not just smaller wheel sizes, alongside levers selected to minimise bar-to-lever reach. The bars are 17% slimmer for improved grip, comfort and control, with 19mm grips matched to average hand size. Correct crank length has also been carefully considered, set at 18–20% of inside leg length for riders in the middle of each bike’s recommended height and age range. Shorter cranks allow for a lower bottom bracket, improving stability for younger riders, while also reducing knee bend when saddle height is set lower than the ergonomic ideal.
The range is supported by a suite of accessories developed in collaboration with Lazer and Elite, including bespoke KinetiCore helmets, bottles, cages, baskets and newly designed ergonomic bells. Ridgeback will also offer mudguards for 20”, 24” and 27.5” bikes, featuring a fast-fit, extendable design that requires no stay trimming on 90% of bikes. A range of Ridgeback Kids gloves and safety clothing will also be available, designed by Madison’s in-house apparel team.
All Ridgeback Kids bikes are backed by a lifetime frame and fork warranty.
“Just like adult bikes offered across multiple specification levels, we’ve focused on creating a single, carefully developed kids’ bike design that maintains consistent fit and ergonomics across two price points,” said James Olsen, Creative Lead at Sportline. “This allows us to deliver easy-to-ride, great-fitting bikes while making the range accessible to a wider audience.”
