Saris buys public cycling infrastructure brand Bike Fixtation

Saris, best known for its cycling racks for cars, has acquired Bike Fixtation for an undisclosed sum.

Launched in Minneapolis in 2009 by Chad DeBaker and Alex Anderson, Bike Fixtation specialises in public cycling infrastructure, from on street pumps and repair stands to vending machines with spare parts and tubes.

As part of the deal Bike Fixtation will continue producing its products in Minneapolis and the firm’s 12 employees will remain on board.

Speaking to the Wisconsin State Journal, DeBaker said: “Selling to Saris provides more resources, greater efficiency across the board and enhanced manufacturing capability.”

Chris Fortune, Saris’s founder, said the addition of the brand will help make the combined businesses a one-stop for implementation and support of bike infrastructure.
