Shimano 105 12spd mechanical groupset at Eurobike (Ooops!)

Following on from the January KHS website reveal for the still not officially confirmed Shimano 105 12spd mechanical groupset, Eurobike saw a bike brand display a bike fitted with the components.

This time, rather than a website, we saw the kit in person, with Shane Miller (GP Lama) sharing a walk around video with his 184K YouTube followers.

Much has been said about the price point for 105 Di2, and that conversation only got louder with the recent launch of the new Apex groupsets, offered in both AXS and 12 spd mechanical. That’s not to say it’s all been plain sailing for SRAM pricing. Here‘s Francis Cade and Jimmi D Nicholls exploring Rival Vs Apex AXS and questioning the pricing structure.

Clearly Shimano will be keen to get the pricing (and launch availability) right for its workhorse road bike groupset, ensuring it works for both aftermarket customers and OE specc’ing bike brands. Watch this space is all we can add.

Also on display at Eurobike, having been officially launched in February this year, was the Shimano CUES range. CUES has been developed to consolidate the brands 9, 10 and 11 speed components, designed specifically for the everyday rider, with the aim of improving compatibility and versatility across the range. Included in the CUES range is a 10 spd Di2 offer (introduced in mid 2022) that includes an auto shifting feature, designed specifically for eBike riders.
