4iiii Innovations adds index registration feature to iPhone app

Canadian sports technology company 4iiii Innovations has integrated the bike index registration feature into its iPhone app. Users can register bikes on the ‘world’s largest non-profit bike registry’.

The 4iiii precision 3+ powermeters uses Apple’s ‘Find My’ technology allowing it to access Apple’s 1.5 billion users globally. This enables real-time tracking of powermeters and can provide authorities with more detailed information.

Mike Mercer, director of engineering & innovation of 4iiii Innovations, said: “Adding Bike Index registration to our app is a significant step in our ongoing commitment to providing cyclists with the best bike recovery solutions. We understand the importance of bike protection to our customers, and this integration offers an additional layer of protection, ensuring peace of mind for our users.”

A record of rider’s bikes can be created by registering to the bike index, potentially helping the recovery of the bike in future. The platform is free and community-driven. It aims to help cyclists recover their lost or stolen bikes and provides law enforcement the tools it needs to find bikes and potentially catch bike thieves.

Seth Herr, co-founder of Bike Index, said: “We are delighted to partner with 4iiii to bring our bike registry services to their app. This integration is a testament to 4iiii’s dedication to their customers and to the cycling community at large. Together, we’re making strides in the fight against bike theft and ensuring cyclists have the tools they need to protect their bikes.”

The new feature is available within the latest version of the 4iiii iPhone app, with an Android update expected soon. Users can register their bikes by selecting the ‘Bike Index’ section on the app and then following the registration process.

This is an additional feature that adds to Precision 3 powermeter firmware update.
