Bikmo showcases specialist cycling business insurance at CIN LIVE 2026

Bikmo is a cycle insurer for cyclists and cycling businesses. At CIN LIVE 2026, the company will showcase a range of products and aim to build relationships with bike retailers.

At the show, Bikmo will showcase its specialist business insurance offering for the cycling industry, covering businesses such as bike shops and hire operators, rental fleets, event organisers and workshops.

The insurance is designed specifically for cycling businesses and aims to provide tailored protection rather than a one-size-fits-all policy.

“The best insurance product in cycling is the one a shop is happy to recommend. It’s a much higher bar than a good price,” said Bikmo CEO David George. “CIN LIVE is where you find out whether you’ve cleared it, because the trade will tell you straight, and that’s the appeal. A day of honest feedback from people who sell bikes for a living is worth more to us than a year’s worth of paid reach.”

Bikmo sees trust as one of the biggest opportunities in the UK cycling market, particularly as retailers face ongoing pressure from closures, tighter margins and the growth of online purchasing. The company believes insurance can give independent retailers another way to compete beyond price, providing an additional reason for customers to buy locally while creating an extra revenue stream and strengthening the retailer-customer relationship.

The company also sees eBikes as a significant growth opportunity, with new riders, higher-value bikes and greater demand for specialist insurance creating a need to explain where generic cover may fall short. Alongside this, Bikmo expects embedded insurance at the point of sale to become increasingly important, pointing to its 30 days of free cover at purchase through partnerships with Trek and JE James Cycles.

Independent retailers are central to this strategy, with Bikmo arguing that recommendations from trusted local mechanics can carry more weight than traditional advertising. The company also sees face-to-face engagement as particularly important when explaining insurance features such as excesses, eBike values and multi-bike discounts.

Bikmo aims to strengthen this relationship by returning more than 25% of the value generated through its claims channel to local retailers, helping ensure repairs are carried out through the shop that made the sale. The company also sees replacement bikes as a further opportunity for retailers, with the aim of ensuring that when an insured bike is written off, its replacement is purchased through a bike shop rather than directly from a warehouse. Bikmo said its work with ACT’s 4,000 member businesses is built around the same focus on trust.
