Brompton World Championship returns with expanded 2026 event

Brompton will host the Brompton World Championship (BWC) 2026 on 5 September at Lee Valley VeloPark in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with 650 riders expected to take part.

Up from around 500 participants in previous years, this year’s championship will see competitors sprint to their folded Brompton bikes before unfolding them and racing onto the circuit. Riders will compete across 10 qualifying heats, each featuring around 75 participants. The fastest 75 men and 75 women will progress to their respective finals, where the 2026 Brompton World Champions will be crowned.

The 2026 event will also introduce two new features. Making its debut is the BWC Relay Race, a team-based competition in which teams of four Brompton riders take turns completing the course in a fast-paced relay, with rider changeovers adding another level of excitement for both competitors and spectators.

Also new is the Hydro Scrap Lap, presented by event partner Hydro. Rather than recognising the fastest rider, the award celebrates the participant who delivers the most memorable lap of the day.

Beyond the racing, visitors will be able to enjoy a full programme of activities celebrating Brompton and urban cycling, including Brompton demonstrations and test rides, folding competitions, workshops and community talks, a sponsor village featuring Aera, Hydro, Shokz, Teya and Newlane, exclusive merchandise, food and drink, and entertainment throughout the day.

Tickets for the Brompton World Championship 2026 are available now. Brompton will exhibit at this year’s CIN LIVE 2026, which will take place on 20 and 21 September at NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire.
