Cannondale launch new Synapse Alloy; the perfect winter bike?

Cannondale has launched its all new for MY23 Synapse Alloy, with all the key features in place which have historically made the Synapse a firm mile eating, all weathers, favourite.

To start with, the new bike features clearance for up to 32mm tires, with a big 6mm of room on each side, and the ability to fit full length mudguards – essentials for those joining winter club rides, and those looking for a go-to commuting bike.

Having addressed what, for many, will be a non-negotiable, the Synapse Alloy then delivers what previous generations for the bike as best known for: Comfort and versatility.

Riders will find mounts and eyelets galore, providing a range of options for carrying gear, whatever the need, or reason. Naturally enough the new bike is also Smart-Sense-compatible, offering riders an easy means of upgrading to Cannondale’s award winning system of intelligent running lights and rear-facing radar.

Interestingly, and of particularly value in the current financial climate, Cannondale has also given the new bike an extra element of, ‘one bike to do most things’. How? Well, the Synapse Alloy comes “Trainer-Ready” with “easy-to-install end caps, making it quick and simple to mount the bike on a trainer.”

The range runs across Shimano 105, Tiagra and Sora components – though not full groupsets – with the Synapse 1, 2 and 3, all featuring compact 50/34 cranksets paired with long cage rear derailleurs and 11-34 cassettes. Idea spec for anyone wanting to tackle a hilly sportive, a tough daily ride into work and back, or go adventuring, with bikepacking gear onboard. Synapse Alloy 1 and 2 feature hydraulic disk brakes, whilst the 3 features cable operated, mechanical, disk brakes.
