Cannondale SmartSense a finalist in Innovation by Design Awards

Cannondale SmartSense has been listed as a finalist in the Transportation category of the Fast Company 2022 Innovation by Design Awards, and received an honourable mention in the Wellness category.

“We are honoured to be recognized by the design community. Our mission is to inspire and enable the future of cycling,” said Henning Schroeder, Cannondale senior vice president of product development. “Cannondale product is driven by rider desires, and it is where we extend a hand to help solve a problem. SmartSense provides enhanced awareness while also creating heightened visibility so the rider can more effectively see and be seen while cycling. It is designed to make road riding more enjoyable for experienced riders, more inviting for new riders and more convenient for everyone.”

Cannondale has opened the door to road cycling with the introduction of its SmartSense technology, instilling confidence and adding convenience to cycling through an actively intelligent system of lights and radar. It is the first technology of its kind to actively communicate with the rider, bicycle, and surroundings powered by a single battery.

The Innovation by Design Awards, which can be found in the October 2022 issue of Fast Company, honour the designers and businesses solving the most crucial problems of today and anticipating the pressing issues of tomorrow.

The competition, now in its 11th year, features a range of blue-chip companies, emerging start-ups, and hungry young talents. It is one of the most sought-after design awards in the industry.

For Cannondale, SmartSense is part of an active promotion of cycling to a wider section of the population, acknowledging that for new cyclists safety remains a concern, and familiarity with technology based safety features, similar to those found in a car, will likely assist and encourage people out of car and onto bikes.
