Cycling UK kicks off 100 Women in Cycling nominations

Cycling UK, the UK’s national cycling charity, has opened nominations for the 2025 edition of 100 Women in Cycling, which recognises and celebrates the contributions of women who promote and encourage cycling.

A total of four categories are open for nominations. The Community Champion celebrates the unsung heroes of local cycling groups—women who teach others to ride, lead group rides and offer encouragement to help build confidence and community.

The Sporting Hero recognises women who inspire through their achievements in cycling — from breaking records to conquering long-distance challenges across all disciplines of the sport.

The Cycle Influencer honours those in the public eye, including MPs, media figures, celebrities or business leaders, who use their platform to promote cycling and inspire others to get involved.

The Industry Mogul highlights women who are reshaping the cycling world, including those running repair shops, launching female-focused products and creating inclusive spaces across the industry.

Nominations will remain open until 5pm on 28 July 2025. The winners will be announced by the national charity Cycling UK in the autumn of this year. Previous winners are not eligible for this year’s edition as Cycling UK only includes someone on the 100 Women in Cycling list once.

“This year, our charity has centred its focus on the experiences of women who cycle, by highlighting the barriers that exist and what we can do to improve safety for all who want to get in the saddle. It feels more relevant than ever to platform women in this space, making cycling more accessible, safe and appealing, and I can’t wait to see all the nominations we get,” said Sarah Mitchell, Chief Executive of Cycling UK.

Cycling UK has been practicing what it preaches and has enjoyed a majority female leadership for the past couple of years.
