Cytech opens first training facility in Swansea
The global Cytech training network will open its first training facility in Swansea, Wales.
Operated by Cycle CPD, a new business founded by experienced cycle mechanic and educator Chris Dower, the centre features six dedicated workstations to ensure a high tutor-to-student ratio. It will offer the full Cytech curriculum, comprising Theory One, Technical One, Technical Two and Technical Three, as well as eBike and individual suspension modules.
Cytech is an internationally recognised training and accreditation scheme for bicycle technicians, delivering training and promoting technical skills to the cycle trade and enthusiasts worldwide.
The workshop also provides industry-standard tooling, with a wide range of professional tools and components to prepare mechanics for modern workshop environments.
With the establishment of the new training facility, Cycle CPD aims to support the existing network of training providers by creating a dedicated hub for retailers and mechanics across West and South Wales. The expansion follows a collaborative licensing agreement with the Association of Cycle Traders (ACT).
“Our goal is to complement the fantastic work already being done by providers such as Activate Cycle Academy by ensuring the Welsh trade has access to local, high-quality training options,” said Dower. “Being based in a busy business district in Swansea, surrounded by major industry players, positions us well to help strengthen the technical skills of the local workforce.”
Practical training will officially begin on 1 March 2026. To mark the launch and encourage professional development across the region, Cycle CPD will introduce special offers for a limited number of course participants.
