Decathlon heads to Wales

French sporting retailer Decathlon has announced that it is opening its first outlet in Wales this year. Opening its doors on 17 June 2021, the new branch will be the retail chain’s 49th in the UK, following the also-soon-to-open Uxbridge branch.

Continuing Decathlon’s strategy of opening within high footfall retail outlets, the Cardiff branch will open within a Cardiff branch of Tesco supermarket.

Earlier this year, Decathlon told CyclingIndusty.News it will aim to deliver a ‘circular economy’ for bike sales, with incentives for customers to recycle or repair their bikes.

Part of the Bicycle Association’s Cycling Market Data Service, Decathlon has circa 2080 stores worldwide, across 56 countries.
