Former Simplon managing director Andreas Hämmerle dies, aged 55
We are sad to report that Andreas Hämmerle, known to many in the bike world as a long-standing fixture of Austria’s Simplon Bikes, has passed away aged 55.
Hämmerle was most recently the managing director at the Lake Constance-based business, as well as a shareholder and member of the company’s advisory board.
Hämmerle held the role alongside his uncle Heinz Hämmerle and later cousin Christian since taking the position in 1993. His day-to-day responsibility included product management, marketing and development and in the process he contributed heavily to many of the firm’s innovations.
“Andreas left a long-standing impression on everyone he met,” said a Simplon statement. “The entire Simplon team will miss him as a down-to-earth family man and will certainly never forget him.”
