Frog Bikes sees a 35% reduction in emissions per bike
UK manufacturer of children’s bicycles Frog Bikes has unveiled its latest Impact Report, showcasing its year of action in the battle against climate change. This has been achieved through innovation and continued commitment to producing sustainable kids’ bikes.
The company set up its sustainability baseline in 2019 and has since achieved a 25% reduction in emissions per bike, showcasing the consistent effort and company-wide initiative. By innovating operations including materials, manufacturing, packaging and transport, this reduction in emissions has been made possible.
In this year’s report, the company marks a milestone by using post-consumer recycled aluminium, helping further reduce emissions and contribute to circular materials adoption into Frog Bikes operations.
Also in the report was the reduction in plastic packaging throughout the company’s supply chain, a 37% reduction in waste-related emissions, smaller shipping boxes that reduce volume and emissions of transportation, two new internal sustainability challenges and the reduction in business travel, along with improved EV charging infrastructure.
Shelley Lawson, co-founder of Frog Bikes, said: “These wins didn’t happen overnight. They reflect years of hard work, driven by our sense of responsibility to future generations. We want today’s young riders to grow up enjoying a lifetime of active travel, in a healthy, stable climate.”
Part of Frog Bikes mission is to provide more cycling to children and encourage cycling as a habit from a young age, with the aim of turning it into a habit for life.
Lawson added: “We believe bikes are part of the solution, not just in how they’re made, but in how they’re used. That’s why we’re growing our reach and sharing what we learn, hoping to inspire other manufacturers to take similar steps.”
This builds on Frog Bike’s report from 2023, showing the trajectory of the company.
