Giant opens first retail store in India

Giant is set to open its first retail store in India today, based along Linking Road, Khar West, in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

As reported by Exchange 4 Media, Aditya Bafna, Managing Director and CEO of Element Retail, Giant’s partner in India, wishes to first, “promote the habit of cycling, before selling cycles” due to substantial work needing to be done on India’s cycling infrastructure. He hopes that India’s cycle market will see a growth of between 7-9% over the next year.

In the last 10 months, Giant has sold in the region of 800 bikes in India and plans to hit 1,000 units by the end of the financial year.
