Gpaint offers bike shops and consumers DIY repainting products

A business that started life refurbishing golf clubs, latterly offering do it yourself paint kits to customers, has now entered the bike world under the Gpaint banner.

Those kits, which can very often be a more cost-effective method to handle small to mid-sized touch ups, have now been packaged by Gpaint ready for retail.

Founder Andrew Griffiths told CycingIndustry.News: “Gpaint Golf was a huge success through lockdown as people sought to revitalise their gear. Having placed nearly one million bottles into that marketplace the bike world seems a logical progression for our kits. It’s a far more cost-effective option for the consumer an we are finding strong interest already from the road cycling market as people seem to really care about keeping their gear in top shape. That said, it works for a far greater pool of applications, be it off road pursuits like mountain biking, or even scooters.”

gpaintGriffiths’ paint is uniquely formulated to be ready to apply without the need for primer and is water, chemical and impact resistant, making it perfect for a cycling application. With a shelf life of eight years the paints can be stored (at room temperature and away from direct sunlight) and when applied will touch dry in 30 minutes.

With 60,000 bottles packaged and a further 80,000 rolling off the production line in the near future, Gpaint is now offered to bicycle retailers packaged in three iterations; an eight pack of the 10ml bottles and two four packs. These countertop-suited packages are offered at retail for £19.99 and £12.99, respectively and each packet has its own application brush. “A generous margin” is offered, according to Griffiths.

The paints are delivered in a ready to mix selection with guides to mixing each to best colour match a consumer’s bike. The colours provided are white, Black, Red, Cyan, Yellow, Orange, Lime and Magenta.

The retail packaging is made from 100% recycled card and has a Euroslot hole for easy hanging on slatwall. Each bottle carries a child safe cap and a nib that controls the flow on application so the consumer always gets the right amount of paint.

Griffiths concludes: “We are looking to find distributors and retailers across the board in every area of cycling, from MTB’s, BMX’s, E-Bikes and beyond. We want to build good relationships with our client base and work alongside them with marketing strategies. We’d also like the RRP to be stable, what we don’t want is a price war between companies and potentially devaluing the product, as you sometimes see online.”

GPaint also offers free UK shipping on all orders over £150 (ex VAT) and covers 50% of all international postage fees.
