Last 2 months of Bikes for Business: £1500 cargo bike assisted purchase offered

Now in the last 2 months of the project, Bikes for Business is looking for even more businesses in Bermondsey, Elephant and Castle, London Bridge and Southwark, to take part and discover the benefits of using cargo bikes. Businesses can now get up to £1,500 towards purchasing a cargo bike, or up to 50% off deliveries when using a cargo bike-based service such as a courier or a supplier who provides their service using a cargo bike (up to £345).

To date, the Bikes for Business project has given £30,000 in subsidies to 177 companies across retail, food and beverage wholesale, professional services and even pet care services.

Publicly funded organisations have also been able to take part in the project including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital with nurses using cargo bikes to get to and from at-home patient visits.

Businesses who have taken part

In 2022, Bikes for Business worked with catering company, Genuine Dining, in their search for a cargo bike to deliver their services to clients across London while minimising their impact on the environment. Since purchasing their Urban Arrow XL cargo bike from a local retailer, they have reduced their Co2 emissions by an average of 1,500 kg per year.

From a marketing and PR point of view, businesses who have taken part in the project have found that the cargo bikes have become a great way to market their business and attract new customers. With sustainability such a hot topic for companies everywhere, having a service-provider or supplier that has a minimal impact on the environment has been a key aspect of their brand.
