Maxime Brunand joins Canyon Road R&D team

Whilst recruitment announcements are a daily occurrence in an industry where change is often seen as the only constant, the news that Maxime Brunand has joined Canyon, the Koblenz, Germany, based business, is something very different.

Maxime Brunand stood outside Canyon HQIn typically understated fashion, Brunand shared a 2 line post on LinkedIn announcing the news which sees him join Canyon.

What makes this announcement so significant, both for Canyon, and for Brunand? The news sees him closing out a 25 year stint with Mavic.

Pause for a second here and give that some thought.

When was the last time you saw someone begin in Inside Sales, and concluded with more than 3 years as Head of Product Management? When was the last time you saw an Inside Sales hire rise to be responsible for the global product portfolio strategy, across all product categories and consumer segment, for the mid and long term? Very definitely not your typical career.

‘Influential’ is an often overused word. Here it’s fair to say it doesn’t do justice to the impact a person has had on a close-knit business (whilst also acknowledging that Mavic has always been, and continues to be, a team). What other conclusion can you draw from a 25 year stint in an organisation?

At Canyon, where Brunand takes up the position of Senior Product Manager on the Road R&D team, he will be working with Sebastian Jadczak, Global Road R&D Director, himself a 13 year veteran of the Canyon brand.

Fair to say CI.N will be watching with interest.
