Pashley adds eBike options to Classic Collection

British bicycle maker Pashley has introduced two new eBikes, including the Britannia E and Briton E, to expand its Classic Collection.

Both models combine the brand’s traditional styling with modern electric assistance, drawing on Pashley’s experience from its recently launched Roadfinder E and Pathfinder E models.

The Britannia E features a step-through frame built from a mix of Reynolds steel tubing and 3D-printed stainless steel lugs. Power comes from the Mahle XS30 system paired with a G3ARED three-speed gearbox and an optional Gates carbon belt drive. Braking is handled by Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, while an updated CrMo fork with a 12mm through axle includes mounting points for front luggage such as a Porteur rack or the brand’s signature wicker basket.

The Mahle eX1 battery is integrated into a Pashley-made rear rack and enclosed in a hand-stitched removable leather case. Finishing touches include a Brooks B67S saddle, swept-back handlebars, handmade leather grips, and 700c wheels, all in keeping with Pashley’s vintage-inspired aesthetic.

The Briton E, designed around a diamond frame, shares much of the same specification, including the Mahle XS30 system, G3ARED gearbox, optional belt drive and Shimano brakes, with a similar luggage-ready fork and battery arrangement.

According to Andy Smallwood, Pashley’s CEO, the addition of electric assistance was driven by customer demand. “Our loyal customer base has been asking for e-bike versions of our Classics, so it was a natural progression to create models that meet the needs of today’s riders,” he said.

Pashley designer Mark Lloyd added that bringing electric power to the brand’s heritage models was far from simple.

“We completely redeveloped our favourite classics, testing different drive systems, transmissions, battery positions and components. The result is a lighter platform that delivers a smoother ride while retaining the essence of a classic Pashley bicycle,” he explained.
