Raleigh takes on the distribution of Babboe cargo bikes

Raleigh UK has taken stock of its first Babboe cargo bikes having added the distribution of the veteran goods and kids’ hauling bike label.

Running complementary to Raleigh’s own widely used cargo bike line, which have tended to be used by businesses, the addition of Babboe sees the portfolio gain cargo bikes well suited to personal use and a potential car replacement for families. The range has both cargo trikes and longer wheelbase bikes.

Commenting on the change, Lee Kidger – Managing Director of Raleigh UK – said: “The pandemic has changed people’s habits and lives forever, consumers are more aware of the need to be more sustainable which is influencing the products and services they purchase. Electric cargo bikes offer low cost, sustainable transport for families and businesses, and present a huge opportunity for the UK retailers with the market expected to grow ten fold over the next five years. Babboe UK will be available as an extension of Raleigh UK, offering the widest range of Electric Cargo bikes in the UK under one roof.”

The distribution deal will factor in the many accessory and spares options Babboe offers in order to enhance its product for specific uses.

For all current retailers, orders placed prior to April 2022 will be handled by the team in the Netherlands. All orders processed from April 2022 onwards will be handled by Raleigh UK.

Babboe is of course owned by Raleigh parent The Accell Group, itself currently the subject of a buyout by KKR, though this deal remains in progress as at least one large stakeholder has rejected the €58 per share buyout offer.
