Tern launches Quick Haul as urban car replacement e-bike

Tern has today launched the all new Quick Haul, a bike it is describing as the urban e-bike to replace your car. This also marks the first time Tern has partnered to produced bikes in Europe, specifically for European customers.

The Quick Haul, a compact e-bike rated for 150 kg (330 lb) maximum gross vehicle weight, has a variety of accessory options which enable the bike to be customized for cargo carrying, or for a small extra passenger.

As with previous Tern products, the Quick Hall is size adjustable across a size range spanning the conventional XS through XL. This is possible as the bikes are equipped with a seatpost and stem that telescope up and down (in seconds, without tools) to fit riders 150 – 195 cm (4’11” – 6’5”).

Worth noting, the Quick Haul is shorter than a regular bike, which, combined with 20-inch wheels, makes for great manoeuvrability on busy urban streets or in transit hubs like bus or train stations – something of a trademark feature of the Tern e-cargo bike range. Tern’s Vertical Parking feature is also present in the Quick Hall design, enabling riders to fit the bike into a small elevator, or to park it in a compact storage space at work or home. Tern emphasize that, for motor and drivetrain the Bosch e-bike system is one of the few that have passed the extremely rigorous Underwriters Laboratories (UL) e-bike safety standard, so remains the combination of choice for the brand.

For the first time a Tern bike will also be assembled at German distributor Hermann Hartje’s factory, located in Hoya, Germany. The brand identified this as something which will benefit European consumers and dealers, and have a positive sustainability impact.

Tern is also keen to emphasis the opportunity e-cargo bike fleet operators will see in the Quick Hall, highlighting that, “companies looking for fleet solutions will find customization options under Tern Business—a Tern backed initiative that helps organizations gain a competitive advantage by integrating bicycles into their business operations.”

The Quick Haul series will be launched initially with 6 models, with production for the UK market coming from Vietnam based manufacturing facilities. Prices start at £2600, with bikes expected to start arriving in stores in Q2/2022.

In the UK Moore Large have a long standing relationship with Tern, becoming distributors in 2017. Tern became part of the Bicycle Association’s UK Investors in Cycling advocacy programme in January of 2022.
