ABUS acquires Italian helmet label Maxi Studio S.R.L

ABUS has this morning announced the acquisition of Italian helmet label Maxi Studio S.R.L, a brand with near two decades’ experience in head protection.

Found amongst a cluster of cycling labels in Vanzo Nuovo near Venice, Maxi Studio has been held a cooperation with ABUS since 2016, producing the brand’s premium bicycle helmets under the GameChanger, AirBreaker and StormChaser banners. These helmets have been most visible adorned to the Movistar Team or the Dutch cyclocross World Champion Mathieu van der Poel, among other athletes.

“This is a very special milestone in the ABUS helmet history. After we started selling bicycle helmets in 1994, we have experienced both ups and downs. It’s a good thing that we had staying power and were able to continuously expand the business segment, not least due to the increasing dynamic of the last few years, in which the acceptance of bicycle helmets in general and especially in the eBikes sector has risen,” said Christian Bremicker as managing partner and CEO of the ABUS Group.

ABUS currently offers a wide range of bicycle helmets (Kids, Urban, eBike) as well as special high performance helmets for professional road cycling, MTB and triathlon. The company recently announced that it will soon be launching horse riding helmets on the market and has been supporting the prevention work of the “save my brain” foundation (Stadthelm) for years.

“By fully integrating Maxi Studio into the ABUS Group, we are strengthening our expertise in the premium bicycle helmet sector. This growth market is of high strategic importance to us both nationally and internationally, and we are very grateful to now have such an experienced manufacturer as a permanent part of the ABUS family,” said Daniel Bremicker, member of the ABUS Group Executive Board, where he is responsible for the Mobile Security division. Oliver Simonaggio will continue in a leading role as COO at Maxi Studio.

ABUS product are distributed in the UK via Extra UK.
