ABUS Gamechanger 2.0: More aerodynamic, enhanced ventilation and ramped up safety
The ABUS GameChanger 2.0 is pitched as the ultimate new aero helmet for professional cyclists, triathletes and ambitious athletes in the battle for watts and seconds.
Building on the work of the aero-focused GameChanger 1.0, the ABUS team has developed a completely new aero helmet: the GameChanger 2.0. Performance has been improved in aerodynamics, ventilation, comfort and safety.
Aerodynamics
The GameChanger 2.0 has a wider Kamm-Tail. The virtual aero profile created by the helmet, is 11% longer. Extensive wind tunnel testing shows the new GameChanger 2.0 provides the rider with a decisive aero advantage. The GameChanger 2.0 Kamm-Tail was also tilted by a further 8° to optimise aerodynamics when riding in the race position.
Ventilation
A key design priority was to boost ventilation. The new Airboost front inlet draws up to 32% more air over the forehead. With the help of the internal ventilation channels inside the helmet the top AEROBLADE draws the air flow more efficiently from the head.
The horizontal struts of the ACTI CAGE direct the airflow specifically into the helmet at higher speeds, guaranteeing consistently good ventilation. Due to their shark fin shape, they act like a closed surface in racing position.
If more air goes in, more must come out. The rear AIRFLOW STAR DESIGN allows for a 20% higher flow via the enlarged outlets of the rear diffuser.
The engineers succeeded in optimizing the ventilation channels such a way that they not only serve pure aerodynamics. Simultaneous pressure and suction of the air flowing in and out cools the head. The tempering effect of this technology, also known as Forced Air Cooling Technology, is based on the Venturi nozzles known from aviation.
Comfort
The GameChanger 2.0 offers a revised strap system with 12mm wide FLOW STRAPS PRO and a wider V-shape placing the helmet in the optimal position. The ZOOM PRO retention system is as precise as a Swiss watch. Thanks to the new slider system – it always guides both the straps and adjustment system into a natural position on the rider’s head.
Specially shaped EYEWEAR PORTS in the front as well as the AIRPORT VENTS in the rear area of the GameChanger 2.0 create two easy-to-reach storage options for various types of glasses.
Safety
The GameChanger 2.0, is also available with the MIPS AIR NODE system.
MIPS versions are fitted a FIDLOCK-buckle for fast and intuitive closure.
All GameChanger 2.0 helmets are prepared for the use of our QUIN Crash Detection Technology providing another safety feature, especially on solo training rides. A micro-USB port for charging is accessible from inside the helmet.
The GameChanger 2.0 is offered in two versions, a total of 11 different colours and three sizes (S, M, L). The weight of the is 260g (S), 265g (M) and 275g (L). Launch edition helmets will be available from July in either velvet black or shiny white – and will include a set of matching socks, with the remaining stock available in a wider range of colours later this year.
