Andrea Meneghelli of Brooks dies, aged 49

Cycling Industry News is sadden to report the passing of Andrea Meneghelli, an industry veteran who built a career with the Selle Royal group and Brooks saddles.

Meneghelli passed away on Wednesday evening, having fallen ill recently while training in Dolo where he lived.

An executive of the saddle and accessories maker, Meneghelli was well known in the cycling trade and not just for his role with Brooks; he was for many years the president of the Eroica cycling race. Just days ago he marked the conclusion of the Eroica Montalcino, reports local media.

Giancarlo Brocci, founder of the competition told local press “It’s time to write about another incredible escape. Andrea was a boy who has always transmitted enthusiasm and joie de vivre, the father of two splendid boys. Dear Andrea, we can only embrace you all ideally. We are forced to invite the many heroics not to follow you on the last path, to dedicate only a thought to you from home. Your heart will keep beating in this special, fabulous world, full of people who know how to dream.” 

Andrea Meneghelli has been with Selle Royal SpA and Brooks since 1998, starting as a marketing and sales manager for Selle Royal, later becoming a central figure in the Brooks business where he went from marketeer, to brand director and later brand consultant.

The funeral is expected to take place shortly at the church of San Rocco di Dolo.
