Award winning Bookman Volume bike light prioritises ‘usability as well as lumens’
The Bookman Volume bike light, which picked up a Eurobike Award earlier this year, features a patent pending ‘Power Wheel’ mode changer, inspired by the Hi-Fi world.
The Power Wheel makes it conveniently easy to adjust the brightness to one of the five levels. Bookman explains: “We thought bike lights should be as easy to operate as a volume knob on your stereo. Now they are. Goodbye to fidgety buttons. Need more power? – turn the wheel forward. Need more battery life? – turn it backward. Simple.”
Bookman Co-Founder Victor Kabo expanded: “We are thrilled to be launching Volume as it will be a gamechanger for performance lights. We feel usability has previously been neglected in the hunt for lumens, but with volume we have created a unique light that is both safer and a pure joy to use.”
But it’s not just about the Power Wheel, the light, available in 2 versions (800 lumens and 1,500 lumens), cannily introduces USB-C charging with a replaceable battery. So if riders need a backup battery for longer rides, need to replace a damaged battery, or come to recycle the product at the end of its life in a more sustainable fashion.
Sticking with the environmental theme, Bookman has shifted its packaging away from plastics to a 100% paper-based, sustainably sourced solution that can be unpacked and resealed without ruining the packaging.
Bookman Volume also won praise from the Eurobike Award jury for its multiple attachment options. It comes equipped with Garmin compatible mounting and a handlebar mount is included as well as a Garmin to GoPro adapter for the helmet, or beneath a computer mounting.
The Eurobike Award jury said of the Bookman Volume: “The light convinces not only with a good light field, but also surprises with a special operation… The fact that the Light also impresses formally with its clear timeless design language and fits many bikes makes the design perfect.”
