Basil and MIK appoints Marcel Beekman as CEO
Basil and MIK has appointed Marcel Beekman as CEO.
With extensive international experience in building and scaling consumer brands and production-driven organisations, Beekman succeeds Marc Roelofsen, who is stepping down after almost nine years at the helm.
Speaking about his appointment, Beekman said: “My ambition is to further unlock international market potential through an innovative way of working, optimised processes and a competitive market approach that adapts to changing conditions. I am confident that this strong foundation will enable us to further strengthen and expand our organisation.”
In the coming period, Roelofsen will gradually hand over his responsibilities to Beekman and will remain involved to support the transition and provide advice.
Basil and MIK’s management team has also been strengthened with the appointment of Tim Polman as Director of Operations, responsible for supply chain, purchasing and product management. The company also appointed José ten Hoope, who serves as Director of Sales and Marketing, overseeing the commercial development of Basil and MIK. Her focus includes international growth, wholesale, retail and OEM relationships, as well as further refining brand positioning and collection development.
Marthijn van Balveren, owner of the company, added: “Together with the new management team and our entire organisation, we will continue to build two strong brands, each with its own distinct role. Basil stands for design, enjoyment and everyday use, while MIK focuses on convenience and compatibility.”
