Bikes ETC and Cyclist publisher cleans up at British Media Awards
The publisher of widely acclaimed consumer titles Cyclist Magazine and sister-title Bikes ETC has bagged Media Company of the Year at the British Media Awards this week.
Though there was no repeat of the Magazine of the year award earned by Cyclist in 2014, the publishing house did also take home a gold gong for Launch of the Year for its The Week Junior publication.
Other accolades included:
- Media Company of the Year – Dennis Publishing – Gold
- Launch of the Year, The Week Junior – Gold
- Product team of the Year, Dennis Digital Product Team – Silver
- Media Brand of the Year, The Week – Silver
- Editorial Campaign of the Year, Den of Geek, Geeks vs Loneliness campaign – Silver
- Digital Launch of the Year, alphr.com – Bronze
- Rising Star of the Year, Nick Flood – Bronze
James Tye, CEO of Dennis Publishing said: “The last 12 months have been pretty busy here at Dennis, we launched seven new products in 2015 including The Week Junior, Alphr.com and Coach and I’m delighted that they are being recognised with big wins at this year’s British Media Awards.
“Picking up the prize for Media Company of the Year is pretty special for us. It reflects all the hard work that every single person here at Dennis has put in to move us forward and keep us successful. But we’re not sitting still in 2016 – we have a lot of trees to plant after all.”
Dennis Publishing is unique in the publishing world in that it is run for the benefit of the Heart of England Forest Charity. The publisher recently planted 10,000 trees in just 24 hours.
The winners were announced at the Hilton Park Lane in London on Wednesday 4th May. Alan Rusbridger, recently CEO of The Guardian was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to British Media Award. The company Founder, Felix Dennis, who died in 2014 was also honoured with the same award in 201 3.
Still to come; Cyclist magazine has been nominated for Specialist Consumer Magazine and International Consumer Media Brand of the year at the PPA Awards 2016. The winners will be announced on 30th June in London.
