Bikmo expands UK footprint with acquisition

Cycle insurance specialist Bikmo has acquired renewal rights to individual customers of Liverpool-based CycleSure.

As a first step in expanding its UK footprint, the strategic acquisition is said to demonstrate an ongoing commitment to providing cover which protects cyclists, worldwide.

With over 25 years experience, CycleSure by Butterworth Spengler has built a reputation as one of the first specialist cycle insurance providers, partnering with organisations such as the Cyclist’s Touring Club and the London Cycling Campaign. The transfer of renewal rights to Bikmo is said to ensure a smooth transition for existing customers, allowing them to continue to ride protected.

CycleSure customers will, upon renewal, receive similar coverage from Bikmo including theft, accidental damage and 365 worldwide cover to clothing, helmet, event cover, as well as multi-bike and eBike discounts.

Bikmo’s CEO, David George, said about the acquisition: “I’m excited to build on the commitment and service CycleSure has provided to their customers over the years. We’ve put in the steps to make the renewal process from CycleSure to Bikmo seamless, and the whole team is delighted to welcome their customers. This is just the first of our acquisitions as we look to expand our protection to more riders in the United Kingdom and Europe.”

Earlier this year Bikmo announced a collaboration with the Caravan and Motorhome Club, offering insurance to members at an exclusive ’12 months for the price of 11′ rate, with additional cover benefits, and the option for new bikes to receive 14 days free cover. The tie up is said to represent a shared commitment to supporting outdoor enthusiasts in their pursuit of adventure and exploration.
