Bosch launches digital certification scheme for pre-owned eBikes

Bosch eBike Systems has launched Certified by Bosch, a digital certification system for pre-owned and refurbished eBikes.

Certified by Bosch records the condition of the battery and drive unit at the time of certification and displays it through an intuitive star-based rating system, with a higher number of stars indicating better condition.

For the battery, information such as the number of charge cycles and the remaining capacity percentage can be displayed. For the drive unit, the rating includes data such as distance travelled and power usage. The certificate also provides key model information, including the brand, model year and frame number, and confirms that the eBike has not been reported as stolen in the eBike Flow app and that there are no indications of tuning.

By comparing the serial numbers of the battery and drive unit with those displayed in Certified by Bosch, buyers can verify that the certificate belongs to the eBike being sold. To further protect users against fraud, authenticity can also be verified using a QR code.

Rebike has become the first partner of Certified by Bosch. Operating in markets including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and the Netherlands, Rebike will offer certified models through its online shop, physical stores, partner marketplaces and selected shop-in-shop locations at Decathlon.

Belgium, Spain, Italy and other European markets are expected to follow in the future.
